As we begin a new year we are very grateful for what the Lord has been doing in our lives. We were able to spend several weeks back home for the Holidays visiting with our oldest daughter, family, friends and church family.

Throughout January, I had the opportunity to preach and teach in several different ministries and challenge people from the Word of God. It was a blessing to see many head to the alter and settle decisions for the Lord. It is aways a great time of refreshing to be in our home church, and we know the Lord used this time to prepare us for our longest time away from home. We have begun our Winter/Spring 2012 traveling schedule and look forward to many busy months. Our first leg of the journey is in Tennessee with a meeting, and then a couples conference in Pigeon Forge with a church from Alabama. We are so thankful for friends in Knoxville that have graciously agreed to house our four kids while we attend the couples retreat!

We are pleased to announce that our support is currently at 63-65% of our monthly goal. The past few months have been very encouraging as several families and churches have joined us in our goal to reach Zambia with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have witnessed Godʼs protection first hand as I was spared serious injury from a skiing accident. After all was said and done I ended up with a bit of whip lash and a sprained neck. Praise the Lord it could have been so much worse, but he has other plans for me. In spite of a visit to the ER, we had a wonderful family retreat! The picture above was taken in Ohiopyle, PA. We were able to seek the Lordʼs direction and spend precious family time in the Scriptures and in prayer. A special “Thank You” to a dear brother in the Lord who facilitated this opportunity for all of us. We stand in awe of the Lordʼs continued provision!

Our Senior

We are happy to see the Lord direct our children toward the future He has planned for them. Josiah will graduate from High School this June, and has been researching colleges. He has found what he thinks is the right one, and we are praying for the Lord to open the door if it is His will.

November/December 2011 Prayer Letter Update

November:
November is the month of Thanksgiving and we surely have so much to be thankful for. We have seen the Lord work in many wonderful ways as we’ve traveled through eight states and ministered in ten different churches. In November alone, we are blessed to have four more churches that have committed to partner with us to Reach Zambia for Jesus Christ!

We finished November in North Carolina and Tennessee, and then headed back to upstate New York. We will be able to spend some long overdue time to visit with my mother (Dan’s) who has been in a nursing home and hospital since September. We would appreciate your prayers for her health and relationship with the Lord.

December:

December will bring many opportunities to minister in many different venues in New York. The schedule is quickly filling with Home Bible Studies and opportunities to give a charge from the Word at many of our ministries at our home church. We will definitely fit in time to visit friends and family during the Christmas and New Years Holidays, for which we are also very grateful.

Ministry:

We are pleased to say that through out the last three months we have had seven churches overall that have committed to partner with and support us on our call to serve the Lord in Zambia, Africa. That will bring us up to 57% of our needed support! Please continue to pray for the Lord to open the doors to gain the remaining 43% of our monthly needed goal and also start up costs by the end of next year (2012).

I Cor. 3:6 “…but God gave the increase.”

We rejoice as two family members made decisions to follow Christ this past year. Join us in prayer for the Lord’s direction in their lives.

We pray you all have a blessed and safe Christmas season and hope you will seek to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.Thank you to all of you for your faithfulness during this past year and we to God doing even greater things in the coming year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

October 2011 Prayer Update
“For we are laborers together with God:” I Corinthians 3:9

Ministry:

The Lord has moved in people’s hearts to pray and seek other ways for the Lord to open doors for us and he has done just that. We are grateful for two churches and a faithful business man as new financial supporters. We are humbled and so pleased to be able to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Any sacrifice we can make here is nothing compared to what he has done for us.
It has been exciting to see God working around us. We have been able to see several people coming to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior in the last month. We have been apart of several missions conferences in which God’s people have been challenged to “step in the water” by faith and see how God will provide. Many have taken that challenge and are trusting the Lord to provide for what he has called us to do. With that said, I want to thank all those who have been faithful in their support and prayers. Truly as we continue to travel the road of deputation there are many forces trying to slow us down or stop us, however greater is he that is in us than in the world.
We had the opportunity to help a new church plant clean, paint and prepair for their first week of special meetings. What a blessing to see a new Bible believing church open its doors in such a needed area.
Travel:

We started this month in Daytona Beach, Florida, and have driven up to Rochester, NY, over to Cleveland, OH, and then we will travel back down to the South for more meetings through November. We have traveled over 1500 miles and experienced many different driving situations over the last month. Even though we have had several different vehicle issues along the way we know that the Lord is molding us more and more into his image, for which we are grateful. He continues to provide our needs and open doors of opportunity to minister along the way.

Family:

Everyone seems to be handling the (planned) traveling and (unexpected) delays with grace. We have come to realize even more how these situations keep us before the Throne of Grace. In the beginning of the month, our oldest daughter- through no fault of her own- was involved in a car accident. Thankfully no one was hurt, however the insurance company totaled the mini van she was driving. A huge blessing in all of this is how the Lord worked this all out while we were (unexpectedly!) home visiting for the week! We were able to help her find a replacement vehicle-definitely needed for a full time college student with three part time jobs! Truly we serve a great God! We praise him for safety and provision through everything!

I was able to attend a Men’s Conference back in our home church with my two oldest boys. We were blessed to sit under and learn from the special guest speaker who has become one of our favorite preachers and a friend.

Nov. Travel Schedule:

Oct. 26-30 North Olmsted, OH

Nov. 2nd Decatur, AL

Nov. 13th Columbus, GA

Nov. 16-20 Lagrange, GA

Nov. 21-26 Kaplan, LA

Nov. 27th. Burlington, NC

FBBC Mens Conference

What a blessing to spend the weekend with over 250 men praising the Lord and gaining a greater understanding of the Scriptures. Josiah and Levi also enjoyed our time there, making several new friends and reaccquainting with many others.

Mentoring

I was able to spend five days with Missionary Bobby Bonner as he was the guest speaker for a missions conference in PA. I was able to talk with Brother Bonner and learn from his experience and expertise as a missionary in Zambia Africa.

The photo to the left is of Dan cutting a tree down after Hurricane Irene traveled through Connecticut. A dear family in Christ had this fall down during the storm, and our boys and myself were able to borrow some saws and during a pretty drizzly and cold day we got the job done! We know safety is of the Lord and a very big job was accomplished with no incident. Amen!

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves…but our sufficiency is of God.”
II Corinthians 3:5

Traveling:

September started out with a preaching opportunity at one of our supporting churches in Connecticut where we saw the Lord answering prayers and changing lives as only he can do. We had the opportunity to present our ministry at a church in NYC that feels like family! The love and grace of God abounds there. We continued on to Tallahassee, Florida and were united with friends at a growing church and had a great time presenting the ministry throughout their Sunday services. We traveled through Florida for the next two weeks visiting several churches with our final destination in Daytona Beach for a conference. We have seen many answers to pray and been through several trials as the Lord continues to show himself faithful on our behalf.

Vehicle:

The Lord continues to have his hand of protection on us! As we were attempting to leave Connecticut, our power steering and brake pump went before we even made it to the expressway. Once this was fixed we hit the road. Having been delayed three days, we traveled three straight days to make it to Florida on time. Because we tow the trailer, we can generally add a couple of hours to the GPS time due to refueling and more fatigue as the sole driver. Jan isn’t quite so adventurous in the “towing a 30′ trailer” department.Once in Tampa, a godly Christian man – who is also a gifted mechanic – was able to help with several other issues on the engine. Now with everything fixed and tightened up, we are ready to put on another 900 miles to our next meetings in PA.

Family:

Our family is doing well through all the traveling and adjustments. It is always good to spend time together in the Word and see the growth in each other. After battling a virus and back spasms, Janice seems to be back to her cheery self, which is great. The children continue to get school accomplished which is a feat in and of itself with this nomadic life we live, but we also manage to get in some fun field trips as well! We are looking forward and are expecting God to continue to do great things through us as we continue our path to Zambia.

Praises:

We have traveled over 2000 miles safely.

Everyone is healthy again.

Several have gotten saved in churches

Many others made decisions to surrender more to Christ.

The Lord has strengthend many new relationships this past month.

Several vehicles issues fixed providing safe travel.

Prayer Requests:

Health and salvation for extended family.

Continued traveling safety.

Spiritual growth as a family.

Stronger witness to the lost.

Churches to commit to partner with us.

Open doors for more meetings next year.

Our schedule is something that always seems to have a life of it’s own, and I think what that really means is the Lord is in control! We were scheduled to be in Brooklyn the weekend of Hurricane Irene, and while it proved to be less than expected, our camper would have been in Connecticut… and they got hit pretty hard! The Lord knows!

That change allowed us to have a week of family camping and that was a wonderfully restful time. That same week at a nearby church they were having a week long Bible Conference. While some may think that should not fit in well with a family vacation-especially for a family on deputation that sees more conferences in a year than most- we were thrilled to be able to be a part of it!

We also rescheduled our week in NYC to be this weekend. the tenth anniversary of 9/11. We are glad to be a part of the city during this anniversary, and will be heading to the Promenade in Brooklyn to view the lights over the site of the twin towers. (Pictures to follow!) Dan preached a wonderful message in church this morning about obedience to the call on our lives as an individual. It is NOT enough to just say “I believe”… for that only makes us on even par with the demons. We must live out life as a follower of Christ with passion and purpose. We must give to Christ what we have, for he will use it far greater in his plans than we ever could even dream! Fitting for the tenth anniversary as well. We all know life is but a vapor, and in a split second everything can change. It was good to be encouraged to live every moment for Christ!

Thank YOU So Much…

…for your faithfulness in prayers and support. We are humbled and blessed by the sacrifice of so many to help us reach our goal of Zambia, Africa. Some Cultivate, Some Water, and Some Sow… but GOD gives the increase!

It is always so exciting to see a soul come to the Lord! A woman in NYC professed Jesus Christ as Savior, and many others made decisions to draw closer to him. There has been a divinely appointed theme where ever we’ve gone of stepping out on faith and obedience to what Christ has asked each of us to do. If we would live that Every Day what an impact our lives would be for the Kingdom!

I was able to participate in a Discipleship Conference in my home church in Rochester, NY. Helping train others to invest in people through the Scriptures for the perfecting and maturing of the saints is so important. Although this seems to be a fundamental principle of Christ’s teaching, the truth is that most of the time this is only being done through the preaching in the pulpit. Discipleship is the responsibility… and privilege of every believer!

We were blessed to minister to churches in Central New York and New York City. The Lord continues to give us new friendships that will last into eternity. We are also thankful for one new church and several individuals partnering with us financially. Zambia is getting closer!

We seem to have been in the thick of spiritual battles but have seen victory and growth along the way. Truly ministry is not promised to be easy or painless, but our prayer is Colossians 1:10 , “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; wherewith we are called.” Amen!

We are pleased to have sold our 15 passenger van to a wonderful church that has been “praying one in”… just like ours! That paved the way for us to get a stronger truck that is better suited for towing. While we have had our share of repairs on this “new to us” vehicle (transmission repair and upgrade, steering and tires, etc.) we are praising the Lord that he has provided our needs once again.

We are praising the Lord for changing our schedule at the last minute to keep us out of the path of Hurricane Irene! Instead we were able to join an incredible Bible Conference in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and enjoy a week of camping at beautiful Keuka Lake.

We start our next journey of extended traveling this weekend. We begin in Connecticut and New York City. From there down to North Carolina and Florida for some meetings and then back up to Pennsylvania and Ohio. We are so thankful for all of the safety as we travel. We are even more thankful as 2 of our boys have joined the “driving ranks”! While they are not quite ready to haul the camper, they certainly are a help in the day to day travels. We are thankful for our kids! They have exceeded our expectations for this part of our ministry!

Thank You for your faithful prayers and support. I continue to be amazed as we watch the Lord work things out in our lives, especially when there seems to be so many unanswered questions. With patience, prayer and time he is revealing the answers, for which we are Praising Him!

Travel/Ministry:

The Lord has allowed me to minister in many different places in the past couple of months. The first of them was preaching for a home school graduation in our home church in Rochester, NY. Being able to challenge 12 seniors to live a life ALL out for for Jesus Christ was a great pleasure.

Janice and I then traveled to Ukraine for two weeks to assist a missionary friend who has been serving the Lord there for sixteen years. I preached to four churches each weekend and had the opportunity to teach several Bible Studies throughout the week. It was wonderful to see the Lord work in the hearts of the people. We understand more and more Proverbs 16:9. “A manʼs heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”

I arrived home for a brief two days before I drove to York City with my oldest daughter, Olivia. We transported all of the luggage for the teen ministry group from our home church and also helped a church plant run a VBS for the week. After weeks of continuous travel, I wasnʼt quite sure what time zone I was in! We are so excited to say that one mom got saved~Praise God! Many children and families were ministered to, and there were three new families that attended church the following Sunday because of the VBS.

After a few days of “unpack-wash-repack”, our three sons attended Bible Camp for a week while the rest of us traveled to Tennessee for a missions/ church planting conference. It has been wonderful to meet many other missionaries and pastors, and expand our vision for work the Lord is doing here and around the world. We were also able to spend a day or two enjoying Godʼs beautiful creation in the Smoky Mountains and see some wild life! In August we will be traveling to NYC, Connecticut, and then continuing on to the Southern states for the fall.

Family:

We are looking forward to spending a week camping with our whole family. It will be refreshing and needful to gather and see how the Lord has been working in the lives of each one of us as weʼve traveled from the Ukraine to NYC to Tennessee to teen camp etc…!

During our short stays back home in Rochester we have been making the best our small apartment. However, after visiting in Ukraine we really have nothing to complain about! We praise the Lord for what we have!

Prayer:

One of our constant prayers is for spiritual growth for the entire family. These past few months have been a great time of growth and maturity in all our lives. We praise the Lord Jesus Christ for his goodness and faithfulness to us.

Please pray for our travels, and raising the needed support to Reach Zambia for Christ. Together we will honor and Glorify the Lord!

Travel/Schedule:

April and May have been very busy months for us; we have logged over 2500 miles this segment of deputation. We have been through ten states and seen many different weather conditions and the Lord has protected us all from harm. We are grateful for the many prayers that have been offered on our behalf.

We started April with meetings in South Carolina, Ohio, New York, and May has brought us to New York City, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. We will be spending Memorial Day weekend visiting friends at a supporting church in Connecticut and heading back to Rochester, NY.

Ministry:

It has been a blessing to see that the Lord Jesus Christ is still changing hearts and working in the lives of people. We have seen many people make decisions to sacrifice more of their lives for the Lord and to get involved in the Great Commission.

We are pleased to announce that another church has officially partnered with us financially and many others committed to pray for us and our ministry. It truly is exciting to be involved in the Lord’s work and we are grateful He has allowed us to serve him everywhere we go. We have been able to help in many different ways such as preaching and teaching; handing out tracts and witnessing as well as other manual work.

Family News

Our traveling has gone well with only a few minor illnesses; sniffles and an almost broken arm and sprained ankle! Homeschooling is always a challenge being on the road with “setting up” and “tearing down” again every few days. We enjoy when we can make one spot home for a week or more and travel out from there. The boys have been able to be a blessing by helping in landscaping, tree removal and other work. Thankfully we have been able to clear out our storage unit back home and either sell items, move things to our apartment, or store for future use. Many thanks go out to Grandma Jane and the others who ran the sale for us in our absence and helped lighten our load.

While visiting several churches in South Carolina, we made a day trip to Pretty Place. It is a boy’s camp, and this location was donated to the camp for them to hold services and chapels in. What a breathtaking sight! We started the journey at about 500 ft above sea level, and traveled hair pin turns over 16 miles of winding road to reach a final elevation of nearly 3000 ft. We were sure our van’s new transmission could handle the climb, but it was not liking it!

This is a plaque explaining the hope for the visitors of this property. If you click the image it will enlarge and you can read it. I am sure there are plenty of laid up treasure for those folks as a result of their generosity. One cannot help but glorify God in a place that just screams of His majesty!

Here the kids are on the other side of the stone border. It looks like they are literally sitting on the edge of a cliff, and while there was nothing preventing them from continuing further over the edge, they had several feet of rocks to go before they were close. It sure looks deceiving from this perspective!

This is the view from the back of the chapel looking down the terraced pews to the front. This is truly a breathtaking sight.

A nice picture near the front of the church… I always miss Olivia in these family shots!

There are plenty more pictures of this beautiful day. Check on Jan’s blog for some others if you would like to see more. It was a beautiful day, and we would encourage anyone to visit.

This isn’t my photo, but it is the same place. It faces the sunrise, and this is just after dawn. What an amazing photo! I love the engraved verse on the beam overhead. Oh that I will always look to Jesus for my help!
